The return of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to the United Kingdom has sparked considerable discussion. Everyone was curious whether their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, would accompany them. The possibility of the entire family meeting with King Charles III and Queen Camilla was also a topic of conversation. Another question concerned what joint public appearances the Sussexes might make after a four-year absence.

The Duchess of Sussex posted a series of photos from the trip on Instagram. The post appeared on July 23rd with the caption “Summer Holiday.” In one of the images, Prince Harry, seven-year-old Archie, and five-year-old Lilibet are walking down an avenue lined with trees on the Althorp estate. This is the Spencer family estate where Princess Diana grew up. Harry and the children were photographed from behind, carrying large bouquets of flowers. Most likely, the family visited Diana’s grave, located on an island in the middle of the Oval Lake on the estate grounds.

During the trip, the Sussex family stayed at Althorp itself, located in Northamptonshire. It is one of England’s most renowned historic estates. Harry, Meghan, and their children were guests at the invitation of Prince Harry’s uncle, Charles Spencer. The estate covers over 5,260 hectares, and Althorp has belonged to the Spencer family for over 500 years. Diana, then a Spencer, lived there from her parents’ divorce until her marriage to King Charles. A temple in the Doric style, inscribed with Diana’s name, has been erected at her burial site.

The estate’s website indicated that it would be closed to visitors on July 10th and 11th. Therefore, many assumed that Harry, Meghan, and their children were present during these days. For Meghan Markle, this was her first visit to the United Kingdom in over four years. In 2020, she moved to Montecito, California, for permanent residence. However, Meghan had visited Althorp before. In his memoir “Spare,” Prince Harry recounted how he brought her there for the 25th anniversary of his mother’s death. “I finally brought the girl of my dreams home to meet my mother,” he wrote.

During the trip, Prince Harry participated in a series of charity events. He also joined the promotional campaign for the Invictus Games, which will be held in Birmingham next year. It was reported that Harry and his family were to stay at one of the royal residences. However, due to communication issues between the Palace and the Sussexes’ team, this plan fell through. Meghan and the children’s arrival also had to be postponed due to security concerns. It became known that the family would not be provided with state-funded security. Furthermore, upon Harry’s arrival, the decision in his legal case against Associated Newspapers was announced. Despite this, Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet did indeed come to the United Kingdom. During their visit, the family also met with King Charles III and Queen Camilla. They had last seen their grandchildren in 2022.

In other photographs from Instagram, Meghan showcased a family vacation in Portugal. In one snapshot, she is laughing with Harry during a dinner. In another, Archie is sitting in an airplane cockpit. Another photo shows Harry tossing Lilibet in a swimming pool. Meghan also posted a picture with a dog. One of the shots taken on the beach particularly resembles old summer photos of Princess Diana.
