Streaming giant Netflix is preparing a gift for fans of the “princess of pop music” Kylie Minogue. On April 22, the service officially announced the launch of a three-part documentary project dedicated to the life and career of the Australian star.

What awaits viewers?
The upcoming series, simply titled Kylie, promises to be the most candid look at the journey of the Australian superstar, whose fame has spanned nearly five decades. According to Netflix representatives, Minogue will open her personal archives for the first time to recount a life that continues to inspire generations. The series will feature unique footage from home video archives, exclusive and previously unpublished personal photographs, as well as new interviews with the artist herself. In addition to Kylie, important people from her circle will participate in the project: her sister Dannii Minogue, ex-boyfriend and “Neighbours” co-star Jason Donovan, as well as the legendary musician Nick Cave.
From “Neighbours Girl” to Global Legend
Kylie Minogue’s path began not on the music stage, but in the Australian soap opera “Neighbours.” The documentary series will trace her rapid rise in the 1990s and the resilience that allowed her to remain at the top for nearly 40 years since the release of her debut album Kylie (1988). Viewers will witness all the ups and downs: from scathing criticism in the nineties to global triumph with the album Fever (2001), which brought hits like “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” and “Come Into My World.” “This project is a celebration of the joy, connection, and euphoria that make up the Kylie we know,” state Netflix.

Special attention in the series is given to the topic of health—in particular, the singer’s battle with breast cancer, which was diagnosed in 2005. Despite doctors confirming her recovery a year later, Kylie admits she still processes this experience. “I sing to get through it. I write to get through it. I perform to get through it. And sometimes I feel like I live to perform,” the star shared in one interview.
Who is behind the creation of the project?
The documentary film is directed by Emmy Award winner Michael Hart. He has already established himself as a master of the biographical genre, creating the successful series Beckham for Netflix and the touching film about Michael J. Fox, Still, released on Apple TV.
