The fifth season of “Bridgerton” has officially begun its production, and for the first time, its focus will be on the love story between two women. We will also encounter new characters – we’ll tell you more about them.

The centerpiece of the fifth season is a new love narrative: between Francesca, portrayed by Hannah Dodd, who recently lost her husband, and Michaela (Masali Baduza), the beloved cousin of her late husband, John Stirling.
The synopsis states: “Bridgerton’s fifth season centers on Francesca, the introverted middle daughter of the Bridgertons. Two years after the loss of her beloved husband John, Fran decides to re-enter the marriage market for practical reasons. But when John’s cousin, Michaela, returns to London to manage the Kilmartin estate, Fran’s complex feelings lead her to question whether to adhere to pragmatic intentions or follow her inner desires.”

Francesca is further described as “reserved and withdrawn, who has always felt out of place in the world. When Michaela awakens new feelings within her, Fran makes discoveries about herself that could change everything.” Regarding her beloved, it’s added: “Beneath Michaela’s charming and lively exterior lies a vulnerable young woman who quickly retreats at the slightest discomfort. But this season, Michaela will have to confront her vulnerability head-on as she is compelled to sort through her late cousin’s inheritance—and her own connection with Francesca.”
This news has sparked a series of questions: will Eloise take the lead role in the sixth season? What else will happen during this two-year time jump? How quickly will the identity of the new Lady Whistledown be revealed? And who else will appear in the new season?

Regarding the latter question, we now have some answers—a new trio will join Hannah Dodd and Masali Baduza.
This includes Togo Alexander from “The Sandman” as Christopher Anderson, the son of Lord Anderson (played by Daniel Francis)—a “Regency-era Casanova” who is audacious but possesses “an inner insecurity that threatens to destroy him”; Jack Bowness from “Carnival Row” as Helen Stirling, Michaela’s energetic and determined mother; and Gemma Knight Jones from “Mobland” as Lady Elizabeth Ashworth—a longtime friend and confidante of Michaela’s, who helps her settle into London.
The fifth season of “Bridgerton” is scheduled for release in 2027.
