The escalation of the conflict in the Middle East is having an increasingly tangible impact on international travel and could shift the balance of power in the tourism market in favor of cruises.

This is reported in a Telegraph article.

“Even for those not among the thousands of travelers stranded in Dubai, it’s clear that the situation around Iran is seriously disrupting flight logistics and tourist routes. Due to security risks, airlines are changing routes or canceling flights, and popular destinations are becoming less accessible,” the authors write.

Against this backdrop, cruise travel could gain an advantage. One of their key features is flexibility. Liners can change their route even during a journey, bypassing dangerous areas. This helps reduce risks for tourists and maintain vacation stability.

Cruises are popular again

The cruise industry, which previously suffered significant losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic, port entry restrictions, and a wave of criticism, now has a chance to regain its position. Despite reputational issues in recent years, demand for sea voyages may grow precisely because of the instability in regions where tourists usually fly.

Experts note that in conditions of geopolitical tension, travelers are increasingly looking for safer and more predictable vacation options. And cruises, which allow for quick responses to changing situations, could become one of these options.

We remind you that American sailors and marines in the Middle East arrived in the area of responsibility of the Central Command (CENTCOM) aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Tripoli.

It is also known that the United States has decided to strengthen its military presence in the Middle East, sending additional Marine Corps units.
